Primal Quest

Nike continue to dominate the racing scene after a win in the Primal Quest, their aim now will be to lift the two rival world championships. The Primal Quest was a very fast expedition race with the leading teams finishing almost a day earlier than planned. Nike were in contention from the start finishing the horseriding leg just behind Supplier Pipeline from Canada, then began a long desert trek with little water at the end of which the two Nike teams were in second place  with supplier pipeline dropping down to 7th place leading into the first mountain bike stage. at the end of the MTB leg Nike had a 30 min lead over Team Sole with Merrel/wigwam chasing hard in 5th place and supplier Pipeline down to 15th. Positions then changed after another trek and a whitewater swim with Sole taking the lead and Team Spider and Merrel/Wigwam fighting for second place leaving Nike in 5th and 6th place some 10 minutes down going into the paddling stage. Finish Team Haiti powered through the field to take the lead which they then lost resting in transition before the canyoning.

The canyon section saw a new contender in the form of Golite/Timberland who closed up to 2nd place behind Spyder with Nike in 5th and 6th place and supplier pipelines closing the gap in 9th place.  A short paddle section and more canyoning saw Merrel Wigwam take the lead and set off on the mountain bikes  5 hours ahead of Nike and the chasing teams who took some rest.

The Nike power train pulled back the leaders during a long day of biking and ropework and arrived at the next transition once more in the lead, they rested a while then headed out trekking. during the trekking Golite/timberland passed Merrel Wigwam   and supplier pipelines closed up into 4th place one hour behind them. This proved to be the last change in order.

Three teams were in contention throught out the race with the lead changing from day to day. Team TURISMO RUNNER-ROCKFORD made their move on the final day having been in 2nd or 3rd place in previous days, they finish some 40 minutes ahead of one of their closest rivals GNC. Team LIDER /Al AIRE LIBRE incurred an unnecessary hours penalty early in the day for insulting an official and despite racing through the final transition without a stop they threw away first place and also got very cold racing with out leggings which left them 1.5 hours behind the winners of the final day.
